Qualcomm Introduces Quick Charge 3.0: Faster And Better

It’s 38% more efficient than the previous entry, Quick Charge 2.0, and twice as fast at charging your devices than Quick Charge 1.0. Fast charging time only means you can be more productive and can easily move when you need to. So, 2016, your phone will have Quick Charge 3.0. Qualcomm is saying that you can charge your phone from 0% to 80% in about 35 minutes.

As mentioned by Qualcomm, QC v3.0 will be compatible with Snapdragon processor variants: 820, 620, 618, 617 and 430 among others, which implies the use of QC v3.0 becoming mainstream with devices next year onwards. The voltage can be selected in 200mV increments from 3.6 to 20 volts, compared to a max of 15 volts in Quick Charge 2.0 devices and chargers, such as the Moto X Pure Edition and Moto’s TurboPower wall charger. Relative to QC 1.0, charge speed doubles. Tronsmart says that their design house has been working closely with Power Integrations for months on building and designing the new line of Quick Charge 3.0 solutions.

Quick Charge 3.0 addresses a primary consumer challenge with today’s mobile devices in helping users restore battery life quickly and efficiently, and does so through leading technology and a robust ecosystem including leading device and accessory OEMs”.

It enables the phone to request enough voltage to reach the desired charge current, which will minimise losses, increase efficiency, and enhance thermal performance. Qnovo technology is applicable to any battery-powered application that benefits from faster charging or extended battery lifetime. (NASDAQ:QCOM) introduced Quick Charge, a new and faster way to charge up your device.

Additional specs released to big up the top-end Snapdragon 820 include the support for LTE Category 12 and its maximum download speed of up to 600 Mbps, which would be ideal should you happen to live in hammock strung between two mobile masts in Huawei’s development facility auto park.
