The FBI is investigating after a woman fell from a cruise ship off Cape Ann and died Friday.

The Massachusetts Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy on the body of a 59-year-old woman who fell off a cruise ship Friday night that was bound for Bar Harbor.

“We heard it on the radio, and we got underway”, Rockport harbormaster Rosemary Lesch told the Herald.

At about 8:30 p.m. the Rockport Harbormaster recovered the woman.

The ship immediately slowed and began search and rescue operations, the Seaborn cruise line said in a statement.

The Seabourn Quest is a 650-foot cruise ship whose home port is in the Bahamas.

The Coast Guard reported dispatching a 47-Motor Life Boat crew from Station Gloucester, along with the crew of the 270-foot Coast Guard Cutter Campbell, a MH-60 Jayhawk crew from Air Station Cape Cod.
