Although the father of two regained consciousness after the knock-out blow, he then collapsed from his stool and was taken to Liverpool hospital in a critical condition suffering from brain injuries.

The Australian media reported yesterday that the family of Browne had chose to turn off the life support four days after Magali dealt him a 12th-round knockout in their IBF Pan Pacific lightweight title fight at the RSL Club in the Sydney suburb of Ingleburn.
AMA vice-president Dr Stephen Parnis said it was time to ban boxing.
The bout was set to go for 12, three-minute rounds, but 30 seconds into the final round the 28-year-old professional boxer was knocked unconscious to the canvas.
“The way that boxing is designed, there will be these times inevitably where someone will get bleeding or irreversible damage to the brain and they will either lose their life or end up with brain damage”.
Australian National Boxing Federation president John McDougall was in attendance and told the Sydney Morning Herald that scene was “horrific”.
The New South Wales minister for sport, Stuart Ayres, said the Combat Sports Authority would cooperate fully with the police in their investigation.
Browne’s death comes just six months after Queensland boxer Braydon Smith collapsed and died following a featherweight bout in his hometown of Toowoomba.

NSW Police will prepare a report for the coroner following Browne’s tragic death.
