Oklahoma death row inmate supporters try to stop execution
Oklahoma’s governor has dismissed a stay of execution for the convicted murderer and death row inmate Richard Glossip. Glossip is scheduled to be executed on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, and his defense team is asking for a stay while they search for evidence in the case.

Glossip, 52, was the lead plaintiff in a case before the nation’s high court that argued the sedative midazolam violated the U.S. Constitution’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment because it didn’t adequately render an inmate unconscious before the second and third drugs were administered.
In a press release, Fallin said “We find none of the material to be credible evidence of Richard Glossip’s innocence”.
A Wisconsin politician even chimed in yesterday to say “If this execution takes place, it will be hard for the State of Oklahoma to differentiate itself from countries like North Korea and Iran, where guilt is not necessarily a factor when sentencing a citizen to death”. She did, however, suggest that Glossip’s lawyers approach the court to request an indefinite stay of execution or a retrial, which are the proper venues to present new information or evidence.
He was convicted of ordering the 1997 murder of his employer, an Oklahoma city motel owner. They want Republican Governor Mary Fallin to issue a 60-day stay, but Fallin has repeatedly said she wouldn’t grant the request.
In a statement Governor Fallin’s office said: “This juror served in Glossip’s first trial, which was thrown out by a court”. Advocates believe new evidence introduced Monday, including the affidavit of a man who says he heard Glossip’s codefendant brag about framing him, may be enough to clear his name. Sneed allegedly admitted that he set up Glossip. “I hope the execution brings a sense of closure and peace to the Van Treese family, who has suffered greatly because of Glossip’s crimes”.

“This is not what people expected when they wrote the cases upholding the death penalty more than 40 years ago”, he said.
“We can’t just give a little bit here and a little bit there”, Knight said. “Let us get on with our lives”. She has not walked a man to his execution since 2004.
“Why have I not had those?”
