Don’t use our waterproof phones underwater — Sony

Sony now has James Bond rights and it is cashing in on the franchise to prop up its other products, most specifically its Xperia smartphone.

The Sony Xperia Z5 made its official debut on September 2 and will go on sale in October. Or it doesn’t know. This is where the scratch-resistant glass and oleophobic coating comes into the picture and provides the additional protection that you will need. The advert is set on London’s South Bank, and the RX100 IV is being used by Moneypenny, played by Naomie Harris, in a daring mission to try and get back 007’s smartphone, which happens to be a Sony Xperia Z5.

“The tests for this rating also include the slow submersion in a fresh water tank up to 1.5m for a duration of 30 minutes”. This may come as a surprise to many of us, as Sony in the past has repeatedly boasted about the water-resistance capabilities of its devices.

The single-SIM Sony Xperia M5 is not being launched in India as of now. However, the device still remains one of the best waterproof handsets. You should see a pop-up window appear and this is when you want to connect the Xperia Z3 to the computer with a micro USB cable.

Sony’s claim is two-day battery life, which didn’t make sense.

As Xperia Blog says, it is very much a case of mixed messages. More active use, such as swimming with it or spraying it with water, are not covered in the tests performed by Sony. The front camera that offers a great 5.1 MP feature will take your selfie and video chatting experience to the next level with its quality photo capture and full HD recording.

To download through PC, connect device to computer using the cable. “Do not use the device to take photos while performing any type of activity underwater, including diving or snorkeling”, Sony Mobile explains. That said, it is therefore not advised to submerge the device in sea water. The five-times clear image zoom feature will give your long distance shots all the improvement it needs.
