Some of Ireland’s most beloved GAA stars will face off in a Dublin v. Galway game On November 22.

The Boston Red Sox have done what they can to squeeze every penny out of Fenway Park, which has hosted numerous non-baseball events over the years.

Hurling, for those who are unfamiliar, is believed to be the world’s oldest field game, combining agility, strength and intensity to make it one of the fastest paced games.

Details about the Irish Festival will be released as the event draw closer, but will include Irish food, music, and dancing and will be highlighted by a performance by The Dropkick Murphys.

The “Super 11” format was developed in recent years by the GPA to allow hurling to be played in stadiums and venues all over the world where the pitch size is smaller than the traditional hurling pitch.

America has witnessed Super 11s hurling before, in 2013, when a Leinster and Munster selection faced off at the Notre Dame University campus in front of 5,000 spectators.

A one-off hurling match between Dublin and Galway is set to be played in Boston in November and the promoter’s ad is as exaggerated and over-hyped as you could hope for.

GAA Director General Páraic Duffy welcomed the event and said: “It is encouraging to see the interest and impact our national games can have overseas and we’re delighted to be involved in this project for that reason”.
