Amazon Prime members get free access to The Washington Post
As part of the signup process for the promotion, Prime members are told that Amazon will provide the newspaper with their name, email address, zip code and billing address.

At $3.99 per month, the WaPo would cost $48 per year through Amazon, well below a digital subscription to the New York Times, which runs about 5 per year for web and smartphone access. Now, this doesn’t mean Prime members will be finding a physical newspaper on their doorstop each day, Amazon is smarter than that after all.
This is certainly a win for the Post, which should immediately see a jump in its “paid” digital readership.
Amazon is adding six months of free digital access to The Washington Post to the benefits it gives to Prime members, the company announced today.
“Customers love the convenience of getting items delivered right to their doors in under an hour”, Stephenie Landry, director of Amazon’s Prime Now service, said. Earlier this month, Amazon expanded its Prime Instant Video platform to become the first to offer offline viewing so that members could watch movies and TV series on their iOS and Android devices at no extra cost.
Doctor noted that the $48-a-year price compares to about $348 a year for The Wall Street Journal and $455 for The New York Times. Customers who are not already Prime members can sign up for a free trial at Amazon.com/prime.
