America’s Got Talent 2015: Best Performances

Oz Pearlman, the mentalist – no not that mentalist – has a pretty decent shot at the Top 5.

He asked the judges to randomly pick one out of five envelopes he had. Each opened up their envelope to reveal different colored pieces of paper with an “X”. At the moment, we feel like it is fair to rule out numerous acts who performed early, whether it be Oz Pearlman, Uzeyer Novruzov, Benton Blount, or Gary Vider (sadly).

Watch Benton Blount’s performance on the video below. That said, you can’t beat this kind of exposure, so don’t say goodbye to these guys just yet.

Gary Vider, one of several comedians left in the competition, was the most recent recipient of the coveted Judges’ Choice honor. Mel B praised him for being “consistent”. That probably means they are not getting it. Meanwhile, Piff the Magic Dragon was not universally loved, and this was his second time in three live shows to get mixed reviews. It was followed by Paul Zerdin and Terry Fator’s puppet act.

Come back to MLive tonight for updates and our Live Blog. Howie thought all of the voices were too similar, but Howard dubbed Paul a master of what he does.

R&B duo The CraigLewis Band performed Madcon’s “Beggin'” for their final performance and brought all four judges to their feet. Howie Mandel said it was “long and drawn out”.

Then there’s comedian/magician Derek Hughes! Stern was disappointed with the performance, calling it “underwhelming”.

Ventriloquist Paul Zerdin, Stevie Starr “The Regurgitator”, and Piff the Magic Dragon have all stood out fairly consistently this season and were considered likely frontrunners heading into this final week. He coughed up the magnet with four tacks as Heidi wished, followed by the last tack. Heidi, noting she’d seen many acts on the show, but no one that could do what he can, declared Steve is a “million-dollar act”.

Stuttering comedian Drew Lynch closed out the show with more jokes that poked fun at his disability. I really wanted to like his act. He also joked about his girlfriend’s bust size. “Mandel agreed, noting he expected “something epic” for the finale and didn’t think Hughes delivered on that” Mel B agreed, noting the performance “fell flat”.

Judge Heidi Klum wrapped it up nicely: “No matter what happens tomorrow, you have already won because you made us laugh, you taught us, and you inspired us”.
