Patriots work out Terrelle Pryor at receiver
The New York Jets want to see Terrelle Pryor’s progress as a wide receiver for themselves. The 26-year-old was later claimed on waivers by the Cleveland Browns and initially made their 53-man roster, but was cut just before the season opener. They may not have any intention of signing a new player to the team, but the workouts serve as fact-finding missions in the event an emergency pops up.

ProFootballTalk reported over the weekend, citing a league source, that Pryor had two workouts scheduled this week – both at wideout.
Pryor led the Buckeyes to the 2010 Rose Bowl championship over Oregon.
It’s uncertain how Pryor might fit with the Jets, who are expecting a boost to their receiving corps from the return of second-round pick Devin Smith for Monday’s game at the Colts.
Despite having physical and athletic gifts, the 6-5, 232-pound Pryor has yet to stick on an National Football League roster. Pryor is a former star college quarterback from Ohio State whose natural athleticism has drawn teams to him at receiver, which is where he is devoting his energy at this point. He started 10 games at quarterback for Oakland, throwing nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions. This offseason, he latched on with the Chiefs, Bengals, and Browns, but didn’t stick with any of them.

At 6-foot-6, 240 pounds, Pryor has the size to play receiver, but the jury remains out on how well he runs routes or whether he has the hands to make it at the position in the NFL.
