Missing Red Sox 2004 World Series ring discovered during drug raid

The stolen 2004 World Series ring turned up at a suspected drug dealer’s home just south of Boston. The Red Sox broke an 86-year World Series championship drought in 2004. But that’s exactly what happened when police conducted the raid. Dougan said police do not know who it belongs to, but it would have been an employee of the Red Sox, not a player.

Police arrested George Green, James White and Dennis LeClair. When they entered, they found Oxycodone tablets, police scanners, a money counting machine, more than $9,000 in cash and the World Series ring, police said.

In addition, White was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate the drug laws, stop sign violation, and operating a vehicle after suspension.

“Leclair was charged with drug distribution, drug possession and receiving stolen property, among other charges”. At about 4:45 p.m., police began searching Leclair’s home, where they found “a significant number” of pills, both in 30 mg and 80 mg tablets, according to Quincy Police Captain John Dougan. The man who sold the ring – former Major League Baseball scout Cucho Rodriguez – did so to give himself “security” if he fell ill.
