Lionel Richie is scheduled to kick off his show at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in the Sin City on April 27 next year.

Lionel will play 20 shows spread across two sections, April and May, and September and October, when he’ll perform his well-loved hits “All Night Long“, “Hello”, “Stuck On You”, “Dancing On The Ceiling“, and ‘Say You, Say Me’.

Richie says he decided to launch a Vegas residency after speaking to his 21-year-old son, Miles.

But second, those fans should be warned because you won’t hear him singing one of his biggest hits, “Hello”. Should I do it?’ He goes, ‘Oh my God, dad. “Vegas is all about being over the top, and we are going to be over the top”.

Lionel Richie also said that a benefit of performing in a single place over a long period of time is that he can come up with unique routines that won’t be hampered by moving to new areas.

In addition to the residency, 66-year-old Richie will be honoured by The Recording Academy next year as its MusiCares person of the year. Performers on the February 13 gala embrace Pharrell Williams, Luke Bryan and Lady Antebellum. “I don’t know what it is, but I don’t sing that song any more”. It’s freeing, he noted: “All the ideas I want to put on the stage, any hydraulics, anything you want to do, it’s there”, he grinned before launching into “Easy”.
