A suspicious package believed to possibly be a bomb caused a lock down at the White House.

The agency has declared the package safe and reopened Lafayette Park and Pennsylvania Avenue and the White House.

Original story: The White House was reportedly placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon, according to witnesses, Reuters said via Twitter. No one was hurt at this time and the White House has since continued regular operation.

President Barack Obama wasn’t in the building at the time.
