Sharp’s 85-inch 8K TV Will Go On Sale Next Month For $130000
Sharp has started teasing its first 8K TV, with an 85-inch 8K TV set to be released next month.

Sharp logos are displayed during a news converence at a press event at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center for the 2014 international CES on January 6, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sharp is one of a number of companies that have developed “super hi-vision” displays, and the display itself is said to create an image that is so detailed that it can appear three-dimensional.
Although it’s not affordable for most, it’s likely that in a few years, like what we witnessed with the 4K TV, the price of 8K TV will also come down.
There’s another reason this really isn’t a practical piece of kit, it’s going to cost 16, 000, 000 yen, roughly $133, 034 or R1.79 million. Japanese broadcaster NHK streamed 8K content at last year’s soccer World Cup in Brazil, and has announced plans to broadcast 8K content through satellites.
“The biggest inhibitor to the growth of 8K TV will be consumer screen size preferences”, said Paul Gray, principal analyst for IHS. However, many of the 4K units rolled out in China lacked HDMI 2.0 ports, that mean they will be unable to receive 4K content – which is obtainable from set-top boxes.
Initially the company expects to sell this to business customers but no doubt there will be someone with more money than sense that will snap up this fine deal. (Hey, finally a chance for three-dimensional characters on The Walking Dead.) Sharp’s 8K TV boasts 104 pixels per inch and requires four HDMI cables simultaneously to reach its full, high-definition capabilities. Well, if you’re desperately craving even more pixels, Sharp has got you covered.
