“Another two international players will join the PSL in few days to complete this task”, he said.

Laying all speculation to rest, Pakistan Super League head Najam Sethi confirmed that Chris Gayle will indeed be seen featuring in the IPL-style T20 league to be flagged off next year, to be inaugurated in Qatar in February 2016.

Gayle enjoys an unparallel reputation for his explosive batting and remains by far the most-sought after player in T20 leagues even ahead of likes AB de Villiers, Brendon McCullum, Glenn Maxwell and others. There is a possibility of Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakara and Kevin Peterson of England to be part of the PSL.

Although, official announcement regarding Chris Gayle’s availability for PSL is yet not made. “That wouldn’t be a bad idea at all”, said Kapugedera who has no qualms of returning to Pakistan to ply his trade.

The franchise-based T20 tournament is likely to have at least 25 overseas stars alongside the domestic players.

The tournament, featuring 24 matches, is scheduled to run from February 4 to 24, one month before the World T20 in India.

The first edition of PSL will feature five franchise-based teams from Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad – with prize money of $1 million.

The PSL that is supposed to take place in Doha has garnered a lot of hype in the national as well international media and all eyes will be on this historic sporting event that takes to Doha 40 of the biggest international cricketers from around the world with Pakistan’s own cricket heroes.

The PCB had originally wanted to conduct the PSL in the UAE, where Pakistan have been playing their international matches.
