Android game streaming coming to YouTube

The new features will arrive from within the YouTube Gaming application in an upcoming update, although when that will arrive hasn’t been announced, only that it will be arriving soon.

The announcement, made during the Tokyo Gaming Show, will mean that Android gamers can live stream their sessions straight to the service via the YouTube Gaming app and start to build up a fan following.

Interestingly enough this feature was announced in Japan, which apparently is rather apt due to Japan’s mobile game scene.

No additional software or hardware will be required, and gamers can stream directly to YouTube Gaming. YouTube Gaming just recently launched as well, already populated with a massive amount of already existing content that is gaming related from YouTube, as well as having plenty of streamers.

Japan’s mobile games define its gaming culture…

However, YouTube Gaming is far from the first player in this market.

Go to Twitch.tv and you’ll be greeted by hundreds of streams from PC and console gamers.

It’s not quite clear how the Android streaming option will work yet, what resolutions or any other features will be supported.

YouTube has a lot of catching to do on the huge gameplay livestreaming business, and allowing mobile players to easily livestream from Android, which is also developed by Google, could be a good place to compete with Twitch.
