Liverpool Legends Blast Brendan Rodgers After Manchester United Defeat

“I think that is what he is finding difficult at the moment”.

Last weekend, Liverpool played a more defensive game against Manchester United.

Aldridge seems to be of the opinion that Liverpool are not getting enough crosses into the box and suggests he looks increasingly isolated by the tactics used by manager Brendan Rodgers currently. ‘I think it’s a system he wanted to use when he first came to the club, but it’s also the system he falls back on when things haven’t worked.

“For me, Philippe Coutinho is not a wide player and I don’t understand what the point was in playing Danny Ings in that position”.

They only scored 52 goals in 38 Premier League games, compared to 101 in 2013-14.

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke took a personal confidence boost from his wonder strike against Manchester United but has no doubt he and his team-mates must up their game.

“They’ve gone the other way”, Neville said. “Arsenal had a goal disallowed at 0-0”.

“Brendan Rodgers’ time is up”. Their former director of football expects these games to define the rest of the season for Liverpool as they try to improve after a disappointing 2014-15 campaign.

It is a wretched run that will concern Rodgers, who came in for heavy criticism from Reds fans after a woeful finish to last season.

You simply have to show a little more ambition if you are to get something out of high profile games like this and Liverpool didn’t do that at Old Trafford.

“It’s a team that will be challenging for the top four and titles so it’s a good opportunity for us to put the result against West Ham (a 3-0 home defeat) behind us and start again“.

You could say the fact they missed him so badly means there is a problem with a lack of depth in the squad, but some players are just so good they cannot be easily replaced.
