One of the most famous fans in world football sadly passed away today.

A brilliant collage has previously been pieced together showing how Clovis Fernandes has been following Brazil at every major tournament since 1990.

One of the images of the 2014 World Cup was of megafan Fernandes clinging on to his replica trophy while Brazil collapsed to a 7-1 semi-final defeat to Germany. “As you can see, it is not easy, but you deserve it, congratulations!”

He seemed in good health as he watched Brazil at the Copa America earlier this summer.

He also travelled to the Americas Cup, the Confederations Cup and the Olympics to see Brazil in action, a journey that took him to more than 60 countries and more than 150 Selecao matches. His death was announced by Hospital Santa Casa in Porto Alegre.
