Delhi Government Show-Causes 2 Hospitals for Refusing 7-Year-Old Dengue Patient
Faced with a dengue crisis, the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government is considering the possibility of convening a special session of the assembly to tackle hospital negligence. “I also made telephonic calls to Max and Batra hospitals to ask if beds were available there”.

A doctor at the Hindu Rao Hospital, Mohamma Yahya, told Al Jazeera Tuesday that staff had set aside half of the hospital’s wards for dengue patients. He had private report of dengue positive.
Now, the real tragedy of our country is that a person desires government job but after becoming a part of the government system, he completely depends on private institutions for medical and education facilities.
The decision came days after death of a seven year-old boy of dengue after being allegedly refused treatment by five private hospitals. In a bid to appear calm and in control, the ministry, in its statement said again that it had started its preparation for dengue in February itself, issuing 12 advisories between March and August, including one to all chief ministers in April. He instructed the commissioners to take strict action on those, who are responsible for this lapse.
They have been asked to reply within one month as to why their registration should not be cancelled for their alleged refusal to admit an emergency case who later lost his life, said a senior Delhi government official.
“The number of beds in hospitals for dengue patients has been increased by three times as compared to last year, but panic is the major reason behind people rushing to hospitals”, Jain added.
According to the official data of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, 1,259 cases of dengue had been reported in the national capital till September 5 this year. The patient was reportedly brought to the hospital in critical condition and died a day later.
The alarming rise in the number of cases of the vector- borne disease in the capital has also put the civic bodies on their toes, all of which are now further intensifying their awareness-cum-prevention drive. The lowest number of cases is from east Delhi.

The government is also checking houses in residential areas to ensure that all sources of stagnant water are treated.
