Snapchat’s quiet acquisition that fueled its new Lenses feature
Snapchat plans to swap in a new lens every day to keep the feature fresh.

Snapchat said: “You can use a Replay on any Snap you receive, but you can only Replay any Snap once”. Even though the update has rolled out to most users, it’s unlikely they’ll notice the new feature on their own, since the feature isn’t activated by default and there’s no obvious button to activate it from.
With Lenses, users taking a selfie can now press and hold on the image of their face to bring up some modifications. Now Snapchat will allow US users to purchase three replays for 99c, to enable even more creeping. The app has enabled users to replay messages for a couple of years, but limited Snapchatters to one replay per day. Now, for 99 cents, users can get three more.
It seems Snapchat’s new selfie filters arrived just in time for Wednesday night’s Republican debate. Users can now pay for replays to watch snaps for a fee, and a new feature called the “Lenses” adds fun to selfies. You can scroll horizontally throught them and for most you’ll need to follow an instruction for it to work properly such as opening your mouth or raising your eyebrows.
Looksery, whose team has joined Snapchat, included filters created to make users look more attractive by slimming their faces, smoothing out blemishes and changing their eye color. Now, you can either take a picture or even make a video which can be sent to your friends or added to your Snap Story. Of course, some users will be surprised that messages can be replayed at all, considering the fact that the company labels its service as a disappearing messaging service.
With over 100 million active daily users, Snapchat isn’t slowing down.
