A sequel to multi-award-winning videogame hit The Last of Us could be on its way, according to a slip of the tongue heard on a live-streamed broadcast from game developer Naughty Dog.

‘All the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric [Baldwin] here. If only the public could take this bit of news as an official statement as it appears that the studio might actually have “The Last of Us 2” in mind. He followed it by asking himself, “Did I say the first of Last of Us?” While they were discussing, the person in-charge of facial animation for the Uncharted titles, Scherr accidentally spilled the beans for The Last of Us 2, making all nod in excitement.
Given what a meal Josh Scherr made of the slip-up it may even have been an intentional hint as to Naughty Dog‘s next game. The Last of Us…
Keeping in mind the vast success of The Last of Us, and petitions for a follow-up title, it is very likely that fans will get to play their favorite characters, Joel and Ellie, again in the not-too distant future.
In an interview with Game Informer, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, the team behind “The Last of Us“, said “We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we’ve brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4″.

Baldwin couldn’t help but nervously laugh at this point while community strategist Eric Monacelli tried to stick to the script and get back to the conversation, quickly changing the subject to The Last of Us’ Left Behind DLC.
