Contrary to popular belief, Verizon isn’t always above nonconventional practices, and they’ve definitely shown it by welcoming the chain-free Moto X Pure Edition with open arms. On the other hand, the Moto X Pure Edition has a 3,000mAh battery.

The pre-order back in September 2nd didn’t come with any formal “release date” and order from the site still have yet to ship to most buyers.

Upgrading to more premium options, as expected, costs extra.

These are competitive prices considering the specifications that the Moto X Pure Edition has. This evening, Best Buy’s website flipped the switch on black, white, and bamboo models of 16GB or 32GB with in-store pick-up. Oddly enough, the 32GB model is sold out on BestBuy.com.

If you’re someone that’s used an aftermarket Android ROM in the past, then you’ll no doubt be familiar with that this news means for Moto X Pure owners looking to get some aftermarket ROMs on their device. It comes equipped with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter and a 3000mAh battery. However, the successor has become a bit thicker, taller and wider, but the screen has kept its usual size of 5.5-inch and the Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, which gives a pixel density of 401 ppi.

As a reminder, the new Moto X Pure Edition is completely carrier unlocked. However, we have heard a few users are having a hard time getting Verizon to activate the device on its network, but it should work just fine. Overall, the new X is larger than previous models but smaller, and much more manageable than last year’s giant Nexus 6 phablet.
