A new tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic bringing the total to two that CBS4 meteorologists are keeping their eye one. There is a large area of disturbance extending from the eastern Gulf of Mexico across Florida and into the Atlantic right off the eastern side of Florida.

A troublemaker trough of upper-level pressure that has menaced the Florida peninsula since Wednesday will hang around for at least another day, while a lingering tropical depression in the Atlantic sputters.
For now, a flood watch is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight.
“The depression is moving into a very hostile environment, and is forecast to weaken to a remnant low on Friday“, the NHC said.
Meanwhile, another tropical depression is weakening, with maximum sustained winds early on Friday near 30mph. If it strengthens into a tropical storm, it would be called Ida. Environmental conditions are expected to be favorable for further organization and a depression could form in the next couple of days as the system moves to the west – northwest at 10 – 15 miles per hour .

The National Hurricane Center is also tracking an area of low pressure situated over seven hundred miles west – southwest of the Cape Verde Islands with a high, 80% percent chance for tropical development.
