He has 30 days to appeal to the Swiss Federal Criminal Court against the ruling on his extradition to the US.
She said: “Separate and apart from the pending indictment our investigation has expanded since May”. Lynch, speaking at the same news conference as Lauber, said new charges and arrests against “individuals and entities” were anticipated. He is also alleged to have acquired USA citizenship unlawfully.
He faces 20 years in prison on the corruption charges.
In a statement, the Swiss authorities accused him of taking bribes from a Uruguayan sports marketing company for the marketing rights of the 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2023 Copa America tournaments.
“Figueredo submitted documentation explaining his mental disability that falsely stated that he had severe dementia”, the Swiss ministry said.
Mr Figueredo is a former vice-president of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) and was a vice-president of Fifa. Also arrested that day was Eduardo Li, a Federation Internationale de Football Association executive committee member from Costa Rica. Four more men had guilty pleas unsealed.
Switzerland is expected to rule on the remaining five extradition requests by the end of the month.

According to the allegations in the USA extradition request, “by accepting bribes for the award of sports marketing contracts, Mr. Figueredo massively influenced the competitive situation and distorted the market for media rights in connection with the Copa Amé rica”, the Swiss Justice Department said.
