Production Halted on PACIFIC RIM 2
The issue revolves around alleged troubles between Legendary Entertainment and Universal Pictures, two companies that entered into a half-decade agreement in 2014. But recent developments have shown that Legendary may not have completely severed their ties with WB as first thought. Legendary, the Thomas Tull-led studio, is taking the news in stride by financing their own films and leaning on their distribution deal with Warner Bros. for support.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pacific Rim 2 has been “halted indefinitely”. More on the story below.
Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 epic Pacific Rim was a hit with audiences and critics alike, raking in a massive $411 million worldwide. More details are expected about the upcoming sequel are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
It’s still too early to say that Pacific Rim 2 is gone for good – but considering the circumstances, don’t expect to see it in theaters any time soon. Hypothetically, I would love the f*ck out of it. I would love to see a jaeger and Godzilla duke it out. Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottlieb and who knows, maybe even Hannibal Chau – but we are taking them into a fresh territory that will display unbelievable sights and battles.
But the main issue seems to come down to money. Which leaves Legendary in the position of figuring out what they should do with all of their extra earnings.

Del Toro was planning to start shooting in November, but Legendary has decided to put the project on the back burner for now. None of this is official yet, but will you be disappointed if Pacific Rim 2 vanishes into the Breach?
