While Altidore may have left the club in January having scored just one goal in 42 appearances, Yedlin says the striker did help steer his decision to join the Wearside outfit.

But since he’s been back with the Black Cats, the Sunderland manager has hailed the speed of Yedlin.
Sunderland full-back DeAndre Yedlin is eager to make the most of his opportunity to play more regularly in the Premier League after securing a loan from Tottenham on transfer deadline day earlier this month.
Speaking to SAFC.com, the American said, “I’m very pleased (to be here) and my first couple of days have been great”.

Should this exact situation happen, DeAndre Yedlin must be recalled back to Spurs – assuming that he’s getting the playing time that he needs and is doing well in his starts. “All the guys have been very welcoming and the staff have been great so I’m excited to get started”. He’s really quick and played for the national team last week more as a right-winger, than a full-back.
“I know Younes [Kaboul] a little bit better than I know Jermain [Defoe] but both have been great in making sure I’m settling in well and it’s been a great time so far”, said Yedlin.
Yedlin said: “I did [speak to Jozy Altidore before joining]”.
The Dutchman recruited the 22-year-old having seen “videos of him” and also his performance “against Holland” recently, “when he did really well when he came on“. He just mentioned it’s a great club. Obviously the weather isn’t the best but I’m sued to that coming from Seattle, it’s not a big deal for me.

Right-back Yedlin found himself marking Neymar for 45 minutes in Massachusetts, and feels his global action has been the ideal tonic despite Jurgen Klinsmann’s side going down 4-1.
