Injured Giants LB Beason blasts NFL over Thursday games

Major League Baseball Jon Beason was a limited participant in practice. Coach Tom Coughlin hasn’t decided yet, but he said if Beason plays, “I think it would be a good shot in the arm”.

“For me personally, you decide to throw another football game into a week, it shows they [NFL management] don’t really care about the players”, Beason said Friday. “We’ll have an idea what’s going to happen there”. “But we’re going to see”.

-The Atlanta Falcons will be an interesting test for the Giants’ defense on Sunday due to their up-tempo offense, now under the direction of Kyle Shanahan.

“It sure does”, Coughlin said. Eli Manning had 193 yards passing and looked more like a game manager than an elite NFL QB. “The workload, I want to play on Sunday and be available for as much as I can”. Even in practice, it’s important to get reps and be on the field so you can be full speed come game time.

Coughlin has done phenomenal things from the sidelines in the past, including a motivational job at 0-6 back in 2013 that should have earned him Coach of the Year consideration.

As for the meeting with Washington, Beason added defiantly, “It just becomes hard physically to play on Thursday”.

Fells’ foot injury could likely tip the balance of their timeshare within the New York Giants’ offense. The Giants and Falcons have also met once in the postseason, a 24-2 Giants win in the 2011 NFC Wild Card round. Coughlin said that Beckham is able to line up just about anywhere-inside, outside, in the backfield and in motion.

For that reason, the Giants’ coaching and medical staff may have to do a bit of strategizing along with their physical evaluation of the defensive leader’s inflamed left knee.

Defensive end Owa Odighizuwa (foot) was inactive last week, and he has been unable to practice this week, which is too bad because the Giants need all the help they can muster in the pass rush.

His presence would also be a major boost to the Giants defense.
