James Wilson Set To Remain At Manchester United

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has claimed James Wilson is set to stay at Manchester United.

The 26-year-old was touted as a potential signing by Championship rivals Charlton Athletic and boss Kenny Jackett is understandably keen to tie him down to a longer deal.

The Dutch manager had indicated that the forward would be sent on loan to gain experience playing regular first-team football, while making it clear that they would have a call-back option in his contract in case of an injury to one of their regular strikers.

However, the expectations are significantly higher at Wolves, as they are looking to mount a promotion push this season, having just missed out on a play-off place last term.

“The information is he’s not available”, Jackett told PA. But if he’s not available, he’s not available to us.

“You get a sense and an idea”, he added.

“You would always want a positive fan base and the fans to be happy with what we’re doing – what will turn that are performances and results”.

Striker Adam Le Fondre is Wolves’ main injury doubt after picking up a knock in training. “I wouldn’t hesitate to give them an opportunity if I thought it was necessary”.

“Ultimately it’s about winning games and there’s only one group of people that earns the fan’s confidence and that’s us”.

Jackett has however revealed that Wolves will not be signing Wilson as cover for the injured Nouha Dicko as United are “keeping him there for the time being”.
