‘What is the Ballad of Turd Ferguson?’ Jeopardy contestant pranks Alex Trebek

The name references Saturday Night Live’s past Celebrity Jeopardy! sketches involving Norm MacDonald as Burt Reynolds.

The Final Jeopardy question of the night asked contenders to name a “song from a 1999 animated film about censorship” that was partially censored when it was performed at the Oscars, The Wall Street Journal added.

While she lost $600, taking her to a balance of zero, Lavin won the Internet’s heart. (Turd Ferguson popped up again in the show’s recent 40th anniversary special.) It was pretty special to finally hear the real Alex Trebek (not the fake one played by Will Ferrell) say this name aloud.

If you’ve watched SNL’s skit Celebrity Jeopardy, you know Turd Ferguson.

“The woman who got Alex Trebek to say turd ferguson is my hero…” tweeted Kyle Gallner.

As his job requires, Trebek read the answer out loud, and the crowd laughed along.

The weird tragedy of this whole thing is that this woman surely knew the answer to this question, “Blame Canada” from South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. Though Lavin didn’t come equipped with MacDonald’s token yellow hat, she brought Turd Ferguson to actual Jeopardy!
