Terming the media report as an “absolute fabrication and pernicious lie”, party spokesperson M J Akbar told reporters here that it was an example of “yellow journalism at its worst”.

Mr Akbar said the legal committee of the party was examining the matter after which it will proceed to claim heavy damages from the publisher, if required. The story was part of a conspiracy to further a political agenda, he alleged.

“We will fight elections on our own strength and won’t enter into pre-poll truck with any party”, Owaisi who was here in connection with party’s poll preparations told the media on Tuesday. “He is only trying to help and benefit BJP that is why his party has decided to contest polls only in Seemanchal region”.

Taking a swipe at the Congress, Akbar said the survey by American think tank PEW showed that Modi was more popular than Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

“It (survey) shows that even the supporters and voters of the Congress are running away from the dynasty”.

Earlier in the day, the Janata Dal (United) demanded to know the agenda of the meeting between PM Modi and Owaisi recently.

The SP and BSP which are headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Miss Mayawati respectively have announced to contest elections on all 243 seats in Bihar.
