Liveblogging the second GOP presidential debate

“Would anybody vote for that?” He added that listening to her voice gave him a “massive headache”. She was, after all, fired as the CEO of Hewlett Packard, dismissed by the board with a severance package of $21 million.

Eleven candidates are expected to speak at Wednesday’s GOP debate which will be aired on CNN beginning at 8 p.m. ET. “Other candidates won’t change that, regardless of how noisy they are”.

Normally, you’d need to be a subscriber to a pay TV provider if you want to watch the network’s live stream online, but CNN is making an exception for the debate, which is sure to draw a record audience. The poll reveals that Ben Carson is “fairing the strongest” against Clinton, with Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina trailing Clinton closely in the September 3 poll.

The billionaire’s unexpected durability has some of his rivals shifting their strategy for Wednesday’s second showdown. Rand Paul, the only candidate to directly challenge Trump in the first debate; New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who had a memorable exchange with Paul over national security in the opening contest; and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, polled at 5 percent.

The main Super PAC supporting Bush, brother of former President George W. Bush, launched an ad on its YouTube channel this week accusing Trump of being “in a very dark place”. “And that will be damaging enough to her”.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a talented politician who has largely avoided criticizing his fellow candidates, also doesn’t plan to take on Trump.

Dan Pfeiffer, former adviser to President Barack Obama, said Monday on “The Lead” that Trump may be better off staying away from Fiorina altogether.

“Instead of shutting him down, there’s a way to pat poor Donald, the chauvinistic pig, on the head”, said Rob Stutzman, a Republican strategist in Sacramento, Calif. Trump said this week.

“Walker’s decline really kind of shocks me”, said Alan Abramowitz, professor of political science at Emory University. “So it’s an opportunity to introduce myself”, Fiorina told NPR. She goes on to say that hers “is the face of a 61-year-old woman“.

According to the Real Clear Politics average, Trump is still dominating the rest of the GOP primary field by wide margins.

Fiorina, the only woman in the GOP field, noted that Trump’s insults to her have taken a different tone than his slams at male Republican contenders.

Like last time, the five candidates who won’t be on the main stage have a separate debate two hours earlier. As Bush told a crowd in Salem, New Hampshire last week, “I’ll campaign hard, if someone comes at me – bam!” “I just have to be myself. People have to find themselves in who they are and that has become a problem”.
