Gaza (dpa) – Israeli warplanes on Friday night struck a training facility for Islamic Hamas militants in northern Gaza Strip, according to witnesses. There were no injuries reported, although there was some damage to property.
“Moments ago, sirens sounded in Sderot and the Sha’ar Hanegev regional council as a rocket was launched from the Gaza Strip and hit southern Israel, landing in the Sderot area”, a statement issued by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said. Most recently, a rocket fired at Israel from Gaza early Wednesday fell short of the border and landed in the Palestinian coastal territory. Israel vowed a tough response.
No responsibility was claimed for the rocket attacks.
The security official said the air raid caused no casualties.

Earlier Friday, Egyptian security officials and eyewitnesses told DPA that the Egyptian army has begun to pump water from the Mediterranean Sea into underground smuggling tunnels connected Gaza with the Sinai Peninsula. Israel pointed the finger at Hamas movement, which has ruled and controlled the enclave since 2007.
