In terms of gameplay, however, the trailer that accompanied Karin’s reveal seems to indicate that she will be nothing like Birdie when it comes to fighting.

Street Fighter V will be launching with 16 characters on its starting roster according to Capcom, which should include four new fighters. Today, we have word of the return of Karin, a character we only used in Street Fighter Alpha 3.

The heiress to the Kanzuki Zaibatsu conglomerate returns. Her V-Skill, Meioken, is a forward lunge, striking with an open palm straight through any projectiles and knocking her opponent down if the move hits.

In Street Fighter V, Karin is a well-rounded character, possessing a wide array of strikes and moves at her disposal for any situation.

Street Fighter 5 releases in 2016 for the PS4 and PC platforms.

For those just tuning in, Karin was basically Ken to Sakura’s Ryu. After the initial Guren Ken, she is able to transition immediately into an overhead attack, a low sweep, a flying throw, another quick set of strikes, or even a backdash to bait out counterattacks.

Essentially, this feature will allow you to view heat maps of where fights are taking place, register rivals and friends that you’ll be able to track, and peruse detailed match statistics.

Street Fighter 5 is due out early next year.

Known as the Capcom Fighters Network, this system is created to help build a stronger community across the globe.
