American astronaut Scott Kelly completes first six months in space
Six months into his trip, NASA has provided a handy infographic detailing a few of the odd , incredible things Kelly’s body will experience during his 342 days living and researching with cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko at the global Space Station.

Russian cosmonaut, Mikhail Kornienko, joins Kelly on the expedition, which was initiated in order to help researchers study the effects of extended interstellar travel on the human body. She speaks with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang on “Bloomberg West”.
On the contrary, the astronauts have another 171 days to spend aboard the global Space Station, looking down on us from our planet’s orbit. However, the astronauts states that he doesn’t believe any effects will be long term.
While the results of the scientific studies on Kelly and Kornienko will not be revealed until after the mission is over, Kelly said he has taken note of how his body has adjusted to life in microgravity. For instance, did you know that during his cosmic sojourn, Kelly will produce “180 pounds of feces that will burn up in the atmosphere like shooting stars”?
The twins talked about the project on Monday, with Mark speaking at the National Press Club and Scott joining him via a video hookup from the space station. NASA is concerned that exposure to cosmic rays could make astronauts age faster in space.
The ISS is now manned by nine astronauts and scientists, with three of the personnel, including Aidyn Aimbetov from Kazakhstan, Andreas Mogensen from Denmark, and Gennady Padalka from Russian Federation , the latter having set the world record for the most time spent orbiting in space, having recently returned to earth last Friday.
While Kelly is regularly monitored while he works in space, his identical twin brother Mark Kelly is being evaluated on Earth to provide a basis for comparison. Kelly’s tattoos were one simple workaround, but others are more complex.
“This is a very closed environment, you can never leave”.

The astronaut, who is spending one year in space, started the hashtag #SundayNFLStadiumPicFromSpace. “You see companies like Virgin Galactic and others that are starting on this road to space tourism and it’s exciting and we’re going to see a lot more”. “But we can’t. And that’s what I miss, after people”.
