New York Fashion Week: BCBG channels sun, Simpson celebrates
Fashion designers Levi and Reuben Uwi, survivors of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, said they looked to Africa for inspiration for their latest collection, which debuted Friday at New York Fashion Week. It’s a golden opportunity to get the details of a new collection. The web portal’s own fashion show Wednesday night was a good example of this, with a diverse array of models in all shapes, heights, ages, sizes and genders walking down the runway. She has sheer overlays worn over comfy black trousers and the same striped sheer in a flowing, roomy dress and coat set.

Taking a note from New York City, which traditionally has a hub for its fashion week shows, Pittsburgh Fashion Week will once again call Highmark Stadium near Station Square home for several of its runway shows.
While our hetero counterparts are spending their autumn couch-quarterbacking for various sports, we gays know the only competition worth winning is fashion.
When VF.com was cooking up how to cover New York Fashion Week as only Vanity Fair could, we struck on an idea: What if we unleashed one of our brainiest cultural critics on the jungle of parties, models, and endless servings of green juice? Among them are “Project Runway” victor Irina Shabayeva, who’s part of a show benefiting Freedom Ladder, a nonprofit that aims to get people talking about human trafficking. This has some pros and cons. I could be at the shows, seeing all the backstage madness and watching how the show is actually pulled together, but this just wasn’t doing it for me.
“I made a ridiculous amount of money with the orders”, says the well-dressed runway crasher who didn’t pay a sponsor fee. Already, Maddy, the Australian model with Down syndrome, has been making waves with her announcement that she’ll walk during the shows. “I’m thankful to the city for continuing to support fashion week”. When you step into our Atelier you are transported to the world of couture a century ago, with a plethora of fabrics and trims to chose from, sumptuous gowns hanging on our rails and somebody to greet you and guide you with every choice you make, to ensure your purchase is ideal for you (and therefore loved, cared for and will last much longer than just one season).
The big names to watch are Wang, Jacobs, Hilfiger, Lauren, Jason Wu, Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Diane Von Furstenberg, Prabal Gurung, Vera Wang, Michael Kors and Victoria Beckham.

And I don’t know why I feel this way because, honestly, I don’t hate Fashion Week. I was a bit teary but thought, ‘No, I shouldn’t cry when I’m about to go out.’ I think a lot of people were quite moved, by their faces.
