Make ghosts with shells in Nexon’s forthcoming Ghost In The Shell FPS

We eat up first-person shooter games like Thanksgiving dinner, and it’s been awhile since Ghost in the Shell had a significant presence outside Japan. Yes, that’s a push back from the earlier 2015 date, though there will be a beta for GitS: SAC – FAO in October. First Assault references the anime source material while advancing the dark near-future universe and bringing it to a frenetic but tactical first-person shooter game environment.

It all seems fairly by the numbers albeit with a cyberpunk flavouring, with players engaging in combat and upgrading weapons and skills as they go. Each character will be customizable with specialized body augmentations, weapon attachments and enhances abilities and will have exclusive attributes reflecting the original franchise.

Nexon will host beta events to stress test the servers before the next phase of development. Taking place in the continuity of the 2002 anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, players will step into the boots of a cyber-augmented policeman in Major Motoko Kusanagi’s Public Security Section 9 squadron to take down terrorists, cyber criminals, and other really bad people who aren’t behaving. The initial challenge runs from October 1-4, with the second challenge following shortly after.

Given that it’s being published by Nexon, you should probably expect it to be a free-to-play title, too. The below trailer shows some of the game in action.
