He said: “It wouldn’t surprise me if he was linked with England”.

The Everton manager returns to his former club on Saturday convinced that Monk will be a candidate for the England job in the post-Roy Hodgson era.

The impressive exploits of the Ghana worldwide was recognized with his award as the league’s Player of the Month for August.

On his reunion with Martinez, Monk added: “We were together here”.

“From avoiding relegation when he first took over to achieving their best ever finish in the Premier League and having such a strong start to this season with different personnel, it has been very, very impressive”.

Martinez, who managed Monk during his spell as Swansea boss, says that the 35-year-old deserves praise for his work at the Liberty Stadium.
