As a youth, I had a freaky fascination with pirates, not so much with anything related to their craft or their folklore…merely their dialect.
It was my buddy Chris West who first clued me in to the marking of September 19th as global Talk Like a Pirate Day.
At least one restaurant chain is offering some freebies for Talk Like a Pirate Day. So grab your puffy white shirt, black boots and pirate hat and get ready to cash in on some delicious treasures. Swashbuckler’s who wear approved full pirate attire will receive a fabulous bounty – one dozen Original Glazed doughnuts – for free!
Long John Silver’s is giving out a free fish tender or piece of chicken if you talk like a pirate at one of their participating stores.
We know what you’re thinking: Yo, ho!
The annual landmark, celebrated on September 19, is a cherished and historic cultural tradition dating all the way back to 1995. No weapons allowed.
Krispy Kreme and Long John Silver’s both have promos running Saturday.
This year, the promotion will be supported not only on the brand’s Facebook and Twitter channels, but with paid, geo-targeted mobile advertising (via networks xAD and Conversant) to those within five miles of the 263 participating Krispy Kreme locations nationwide, reports the brand’s agency, Raleigh, N.C.-based Baldwin&. Hungry landlubbers who talk like a pirate will get to enjoy a fried fish or chicken tender – for free.
