Virgin Atlantic flight returns to gate after wing clips fence

No one was injured on Flight VS26 from John F. Kennedy global Airport to London’s Heathrow, according to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
The incident happened at 8.30am local time [1.30pm GMT] as the Virgin Atlantic aircraft was being pushed back from the gate by a tug.
A video filmed by Twitter user Schlecker R, who was on the plane, shows airport staff examining the wing after the aircraft had come to a halt.
Frustrated passengers said they were waiting for assistance two and a half hours after the accident.
The wing of the plane was damaged and the 276 passengers on board had to disembark.

A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said the crash was a cause of “a miscalculation by the tug”. She said the plane had returned to the gate and that Virgin is working to get customers on their way.

The passenger said the “plane shuddered as it hit the wall, but we’re fine”.
