Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes targets magnificent seven successive league wins

Aberdeen were keen to follow up the win over Celtic with another against Hamilton on Tuesday, with this the Dons’ game in hand, and that’s exactly what happened!

As far as Jack is concerned, that result against the less glamorous hoops proved their opponents are more motivated than ever when it comes to attempting to defeat Aberdeen nowadays.

“It was important that we see that improvement and the improvement has to come with results”, he said. The performance wasn’t what we’d hoped for, but the outcome is what we wanted. For the first time in their 112-year existence, they have started a league campaign with six consecutive victories, eclipsing the previous best of five by Sir Alex Ferguson’s title-winning team of 1985.

“The second half started ok as well but we got the penalty against us, which I think was no penalty”. It’s just a reflection of the staff and the players we’ve got here.

‘Knowing the competitive side of Hamilton we had a job getting on top of them.

“They are looking for us to drop points but we answered that challenge again and now the focus is keeping that going against Hearts”.

Ferguson has also stated that Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is turning the club into Rangers.

Shay Logan, Barry Robson, Peter Pawlett, David Goodwillie and last weekend’s match victor against Celtic, Paul Quinn, could only make the bench for the Hamilton game.

The Dons will find out today if Jonny Hayes’ red card appeal has been successful and if he will be available for the trip to Tynecastle. To win it like we did, a lot of people probably thought we weren’t capable of that. “I always look to keep a substitute back for just that eventuality, and I had actually thought of putting all three on at one point as it was clear we needed a dose of energy and freshness”.

He went on to praise “a big effort” to get the three-points, adding.

“We have got that depth of squad that if there are injuries or if the manager feels he does need to change things then it is not going to weaken the team in any way”. I have always been more training than playing so now it is time for me to play games, gain some form and try to improve as a player.
