Cowboys force 7 turnovers in big win over UTSA

Blake Bogenschutz was 8 of 13 for 58 yards and a touchdown for UTSA (0-3), but also fumbled twice and threw two interceptions before he was taken out of the game late in the second quarter. Saturday’s clash will be the last in a three-game deal the schools signed in 2010. Oklahoma State won the only previous meeting when the teams met in San Antonio back in UTSA’s second season of FBS play.

Mason Rudolph is the sixth quarterback in Oklahoma State football history to throw for more than 400 yards. He was offensive coordinator when current Cowboys coach Mike Gundy was the quarterback. “Three were poor routes that our receivers had run”. The Cowboys have stumbled out of the gate against their first two opponents. 22 Arizona (42-32) and OSU’s Big 12 rival Kansas State (30-3).

On the third play from scrimmage in the game, with Bogenschutz rolling slightly to his right, Jones rushed into the picture, reached around and punched the ball out of the UTSA quarterback’s grasp from behind.

“No moral victories, we’re out here to compete, to win”, said Coker, whose team plays in Conference USA. Our energy and attitude level are really good, and I like how our coaches are working at this time.

A fourth UTSA turnover led to another Oklahoma State touchdown when Kevin Peterson’s interception gave the Cowboys the ball on the UTSA 30.

With 4 Wins and 8 Losses, Texas San Antonio Roadrunners gained 355.0 total yards on an average including 251.0 passing yards (with 39.5 passing attempts having completion percentage of 57.0) and 104.0 rushing yards per game. Not only have they played each other the past two years but UTSA head coach Larry Coker spent six years of his career in Stillwater, serving as offensive coordinator for a talented program that placed Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas into the national spotlight. If this is a “bad” game for Bogenschutz, you’ve got to like UTSA’s chances with him moving forward. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are 7-6 and 6-7 against the spread. “If we execute our offense better, we’ll put some points on the board and maybe pull one of these ballgames out”, Bogenschutz said.
