According to the report, the old man was crossing the road at Pinerolo, near Turin, Italy, when he was stopped by few police officers who later fined him as he failed to cross the road while the signal was green.

He was fined almost 41 euros, which he paid later.

But after getting continuous complaint regarding the fine – the mayor of the town decided to refund personally the fine to the old man.

He explained “We want our officers to be zealous and I haven’t yet had time to speak with the person who gave the fine, to understand what happened and to see whether there were any excesses”.

He added “In any case, tomorrow I will go to the elderly man’s home and refund him the money he had to pay for the fine out of my own pocket”.
