What the win means for Oklahoma State: The return of an opportunistic, turnover-forcing defense brings plenty of hope for the Cowboys. Gundy completed his four-year career with the Cowboys in 1989.

On the opening possession of the game, UTSA quarterback Blake Bogenschutz was sacked by Miketavious Jones, the ball came loose and Devante Averette scooped it up at the six-yard line and ran in for the touchdown and an early 7-0 OSU lead. “Three were poor routes that our receivers had run”.

The Cowboys believe UTSA will be their toughest opponent so far, and Rudolph is eager for the challenge. “We have to focus on ourselves, make adjustments, and correct mistakes from the previous week to get better”. 22 Arizona (42-32) and OSU’s Big 12 rival Kansas State (30-3).

UTSA coach Larry Coker’s message to his players this week was simple and direct: Keep striving to improve and continue to move forward, regardless of the team’s record. Our energy and attitude level are really good, and I like how our coaches are working at this time.

Every time Oklahoma State saw a chance Saturday in Stillwater, Oklahoma, it seized it. The Cowboys gained just 73 yards on 21 rushes through three quarters, before closing with 91 yards on 14 carries in the fourth quarter.

Said offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich: “Competition and personnel is constantly being evaluated”. UTSA (0-3) will be looking for its first victory of the season at home in a non-conference game against Colorado State.

Fumbles by Bogunschutz on UTSA’s first two possessions helped Oklahoma State take a 14-0 lead just 2:27 into the game. “If we execute our offense better, we’ll put some points on the board and maybe pull one of these ballgames out”, Bogenschutz said. Oklahoma State is littered with playmakers on the outside, like David Glidden, Marcell Ateman and Brandon Sheperd. Later, an interception halted a Roadrunners threat and another led to a touchdown. “I don’t want to be a dancer or a guy that prances around”.

UTSA showed an offensive spark that could challenge an Oklahoma State squad that’s been stumbling on third downs and in the red zone. Gundy considers him one of his mentors.
