Vettel takes Singapore pole
Rosberg, though, was unhappy with how the weekend had gone in Singapore where he struggled for pace behind the Red Bulls and Ferrari as Mercedes finished off the podium for only the second time this year.

Lewis Hamilton has vowed to keep chasing his childhood dream after a shattering setback ahead of Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix, writes Byron Young in Singapore.
Force India, which had brought an upgrade package, managed 11th (Nico Hulkenberg) and 13th (Sergio Perez). The second row of the grid in Sunday’s race will follow that pattern, with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen in third and Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat fourth. The world champion bemoaned a lack of power shortly before the midway stage and was forced to park his vehicle on lap 33.
The Mercedes deadlock on the front row was finally broken at the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix tonight (Sept 19), as Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel delivered a surprise at the Marina Bay street circuit by qualifying first to claim pole position for tomorrow’s race.
Rossi ended up besting teammate Will Stevens best time, but still found himself and his English teammate at the bottom of the grid.
“We’ll enjoy it while it lasts and I’ll be watching it on the screens while I’m going round in the middle of the pack”. “Overall a flawless weekend, I am very, very happy”.
The championship has been tightened up considerably by a disastrous result for Lewis Hamilton.
Ricciardo began to close in on the German as they both neared their first pit stops, but this was disrupted when the safety vehicle was deployed following a collision between Nico Hulkenberg and Felipe Massa.
“We’ve seen some spectacular performances on the long runs from Red Bull. We just need to get our heads together and assess what’s happening”.
The second came in freaky circumstances when a fan was seen wandering on the track near the Anderson Bridge section.
Ricciardo, who felt both safety auto periods in the race hurt his chances of fighting for victory, added: “Thanks to the guy on the track – appreciate it”. The casually dressed man soon climbed over a trackside barrier and off the track and the race resumed. Vettel trails Hamilton by 49 and Raikkonen is 145 adrift with a maximum of 150 points available from the remaining six races.
Jos Verstappen continues to impress in his debut season, with yet another top 10 finish, the young rookie will hope to have a clean race tomorrow after some hard races despite impressing during qualifying.

“If we have more weekends like this, yes”, Vettel said.
