Japan upset a reminder for Wallabies not to think too far ahead

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika says honesty will be key for his team, with their opening World Cup side to be announced on Monday evening (AEST).

The cousin of Wallabies outside centre Tevita Kuridrani, and former Wallaby Lote Tuqiri, Nadolo has been making waves in Australian rugby for almost a decade – running riot in Sydney club rugby for Randwick and Manly.

“Eddie is a friend of mine and it’s a great credit to him and a great result for him”, Cheika said. “You can understand what they must be feeling”.

If Fiji’s display in the tournament opener against England was not warning enough that a victory was by no means a foregone conclusion, Japan’s win in Brighton confirmed it.

One thing is certain – Cheika is confident there isn’t a hint of complacency among his playing group when it comes to shaping up against Fiji.

“You’ve seen the intent of all the different teams, and that’s as it should be. I would sniff that straight away… we know those guys too well, especially Fijians”, Cheika said.

“That’s the way I’ve done it, it’s the way I was coached as a player”. “There’s obviously going to be tweaks in terms of gameplans, but overall all sides in their preparation leading into this World Cup are going to have 90 per cent of their game set in stone and then it’ll just be a matter of tinkering here and there”, he said.

The Wallabies sat up and took notice of Japan’s stunning performance against Fiji. Only Canada succumbed to a rout at the hands of Ireland. “It’s the World Cup“.

Barring significant upsets, the Pool A victor would go on to face either Samoa or Scotland in the quarter-finals and France, Ireland or Argentina in the semis – rather than their bigger southern hemisphere rivals New Zealand or South Africa.

Australia have felt removed from all the serious World Cup hype in tranquil Bath, but that was shattered yesterday when a man with a long-lens camera was spotted by World Rugby security lurking in bushes adjacent to the field where they’ve been training at Bath University.

“And that will happen by doing things consistently in games”. You do well in one scrum and you knock off in another and you’ll get turned up.

‘I think we’ve had a few issues here and there, ‘ conceded the England hooker, ‘but I wouldn’t say we’ve been under the pump all the time.

“Not every team’s goal might be to win the tournament, but all teams are coming with an objective”. No one is coming here to participate only. Evan George takes a look at the top five of all time.

“A team aligned with a goal is a very unsafe beast”.

“There players are starting to play more and more against tier-one players”.

“Because they (the English) have a good reputation, we have to improve ours if we are going to get the rub of the green on those interpretation calls”, he said.

“Last valuable time the new fish was against Wales therefore wasn’t which these performed improperly but it surely feels as though they’re considerably more competent at that way now”.
