The 20-year-old England left-back will reportedly have a psychologist made available to him by Manchester United to deal with the psychological ramifications of his injury.

Manchester United have been handed a major boost ahead of their clash with Southampton this weekend, after Louis van Gaal confirmed that Wayne Rooney is available for the game at St Mary’s, according to the Daily Express.

“In four competitions usually the bigger teams have double competition up front, but United don’t and that is going to be the big question for the season“, said 39-year-old.

Jimmy Bullard believes that Manchester United’s Luke Shaw will be mentally scarred by his horrendous injury this week, the former midfielder wrote in his Daily Star column.

The Saints boss said on Friday he was happy to invite Van Gaal into his office for a glass of wine after the match even though he claimed the United manager snubbed the same offer last season. Still a long way to go.

When asked what Shaw said to him, Pochettino added: “It’s hard because he was crying”.

Wayne Rooney, the captain, is available to start at Southampton on Sunday following a hamstring injury. Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo are the main contenders.

But their lead did not last until half-time with Moreno scoring from a corner kick in the final minutes of the first half which was extended because of Shaw’s injury.

But the England full-back has put a message of thanks on Instagram to the hospital staff who have helped with his recovery and says he will now return home to continue his rehabilitation.

“It’s not only physical but also mental”.

“We sent people to the Netherlands to take care of the travelling when he’s coming back“. His left leg makes some contact on the follow-through, but it is always tucked away under him and not aimed towards Luke Shaw. “When you see us playing and the spirit that we have, I don’t have any doubt”. The Argentine has featured on the left side of the defense for his national squad and played there several times for Manchester United last season.
