Moments later, Muhannad said, Minter pulled a 9mm semi-automatic and began firing as the pastor left the pulpit and rushed toward him. The pastor is white, and Minter, his girlfriend and the one-month old infant are black.

Both the woman and baby were in stable condition Sunday afternoon, but their names had not been released, WSFA, Montgomery, reported.

In yet another case of a church shooting in the USA , three people were reportedly injured after a gunman opened fire at people assembled at a church in Alabama.

The girlfriend was shot in the shoulder and the jaw, police say. The pastor was shot as he tried to get the gun out of the shooter’s hand, he said.

A woman – said to be the suspect’s girlfriend – her newborn baby and pastor have all been hurt.

Minter allegedly fled the scene but was captured by police less than a mile from the church. Minter then ran out of the church.

Former Selma Mayor and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church minister James Perkins visited the church Sunday night. “A lot of people are stressed”, Perkins said. “We’ve seen this happen so many times in our country”.

Neither Minter’s age nor hometown was immediately available. Jackson says Minter is being held without bond at the Dallas County jail.

Muhannad says authorities are also investigating whether Minter violated a protective order.
