Xbox boss expects PS4 price cut next month

It’s somewhat weird to hear Microsoft talking about the future of the PlayStation 4 when it comes to price and Sony has always maintained that the price of its home console reflects the value that it delivers to gamers. With the holiday season just around the corner, it might make sense to mark the PS4 down to sell as many units as possible and to better compete against Nintendo.

“I fully expect they [PlayStation] will drop price”, said Spencer. If history tells, then we’ll see a price drop from them coming.

Paris Games Week 2015 takes place between October 28 and November 1.

Seemingly unfazed by the prospect of a PS4 price cut, Spencer went on to add, “It’s great for gamers when price competition happens. We saw that last holiday, and we saw insane sales numbers on all of the consoles”, he said. That has led to a disappointing sales rate in Japan.

Xbox President Phil Spencer also has a small amount of evidence to back up his claim coming from Japan. Sony doing well means that Microsoft has to up its game and vice versa.

We have some more details on the status of console mods for Fallout 4 on PS4 and Xbox One. After a two-month delay, Japanese electronics giant Sony on March 20 launched its PlayStation gaming console in China, but without some popular titles like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Call of Duty”.

However, with games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5: Guardians and Forza 6 hitting Xbox One, maybe Sony should do it.

However, we have to consider that Sony really never had a reason to cut prices. The move will see the PS4 retail at £299.99, £50 cheaper than the current price of £349.99, and matching the price of the Xbox One.
