‘Once Upon a Time’ to feature an LGBT relationship this year

After confirming the return of Mulan, Once Upon a Time executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis promised that the popular fantasy show will finally include an LGBT relationship in its upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Jamie Chung playing Mulan will reprise her role in “Once Upon a Time” season 5. However, details regarding the character’s return are now being kept under wraps, so we’re not exactly sure yet how Mulan will play into Season 5’s overall story.

“But it is something that we’re going to do this year”, Kitsis interjected.

Kitsis added that it is something they will do this year for the return of the series on TV screens. “It’s something we think is very important to do on the show, because this is the world we live in”. This will give viewers a true perspective as they dish on different characters, relationships and behind-the-scene stories. The warrior princess had been MIA from the show ever since season three, when she realized that the future she wanted with Aurora (Sarah Bolger) wasn’t going to happen (when we last left Aurora she was engaged and preggo with Prince Philip’s [Julian Morris] eggo).

“There are other characters who may return as well”. However, perhaps Chung’s character will ultimately find love with a different doe-eyed, red-headed beauty during her multi-episode Season 5 arc. “It’s been a while since we’ve seen Mulan and Ruby, and we’ve been thinking about them for a while”.

Aside from the alleged LGBT plot, there are surprises from the episodes that would “bring love, loss and destiny to the forefront”, Hypable wrote. Interestingly, the term means “Lady of the Lake”, which, in turn, is the title of the episode back in Season 2 when Mulan first appeared in the show.
