“A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion County coroner’s office”, said Katie Carlson, spokeswoman for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, adding that no foul play was suspected.

Indianapolis media outlets cited investigative reports stating that Sharp allegedly fondled a 14-year-old girl he had coached over a two-year period.

Authorities have not said how Sharp took his own life.

Sharp was not arrested until the young girl came forward and complained about him touching her inappropriately, which prompted a search.

“USA Gymnastics is aware of the untimely death of Marvin Sharp”. “I have never seen him behave in any way whatsoever other than respectfully toward any gymnast”.

The investigation into Sharp started when a female gymnast at his academy made a complaint.

The Indianapolis Star has reported that Sharp coached central Indiana natives Bridget Sloan and Samantha Peszek before they were members of the US team that won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The charges stemmed from a raid on Sharp’s home in August.

Sharp’s website says he “wanted to open a gym where athletes could train at all levels (preschool to Elite), in a POSITIVE and FUN training environment”. On Sunday, People shared the news about what happened to this gymnastics coach that was accused of child molestation and child pornography.
