Tevez apologises for leg breaking tackle

Carlos Tevez has apologised to Ezequiel Ham after breaking his leg in a tackle during an Argentine Primera Division game on Saturday.

The former Manchester United and City forward was chasing the ball when he jumped in on Argentinos man Ezequeil Ham, going in studs first and snapping his opponent’s ankle in the process.

Tevez, who last season was top scorer for Italian side Juventus as they won Serie A and reached the Champions League final, was not sanctioned for the incident.

I’ve never hurt anyone, this is my first time. I’m sad because I didn’t want to do anything bad to him.

“I’m going to visit him and apologise”.

Argentinos coach Nestor Gorosito, though, struggled to accept the striker’s version of events following the horror injury.

“It wasn’t unintentional”, he told the club’s website.

The challenge – which can be seen below for those who are not squeamish – came in the closing stages of a game in which both players had found the back of the net.

Reinaldo Lenis saw red for the hosts before Tevez scored a second in the 54th minute after a Nicolas Lodeiro throughball.

The incident happened in Boca’s 3-1 win.
